About the Author

Hi! I'm Emily Paull and I am a writer of short fiction and historical fiction from Perth, Western Australia. I have degrees in Creative Writing, History, Publishing and I am currently doing my Masters in Information Studies.

My work has appeared in journals such as Westerly and Tenderfoot (though it was called Trove at the time), as well as in the anthologies, Joiner Bay and Other Stories, Shibboleth and Other Stories, We'll Stand in that Place and Other Stories (Margaret River Press, WA) and [Re]Sisters (For Books’ Sake, UK).

I have been shortlisted for the John Marsden/ Hachette Australia Award for Young Writers and the Hadow/Stuart Award. In 2014 I was a Young Writer in Residence at the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers Centre.

A former bookseller, I was twice nominated for the ABIA Young Bookseller of the Year Award. I was book-buyer at WA bookshop, Bookcaffe, for five years until its closing.

My book reviews have appeared on websites such as the AU Review, as well as this website, www.emilypaull.com  I am a regular moderator at the Perth Writers Festival, and at library events around Perth, and in 2018 I was a guest at the Australian Short Story Festival.

I'm also the co-founder of the popular Write Nights program at the Centre for Stories.

In 2019, I am very excited to announce that Margaret River Press will be publishing my debut collection of short stories, Well-Behaved Women
